Following the success of City Centre malls in Kolkata (Salt Lake and New Town), Siliguri and Raipur in Chattisgarh, Ambuja Neotia Group recently launched its 5th City Centre mall, in Haldia, West Bengal.

Spread over 5.37 acres of green integrated development, City Centre Haldia offers 2.60 lakhs sq ft (over Phase I & Phase II) of retail delight across international, national and local brands. The anchor brands include Big Bazaar, Max Lifestyle, Hangout–the food court, Bioscope and Domino's. The other brands present are John Players, Bata, Khadim's, Lee, Fanetta, Wrangler, Titan Eye Plus, Safari, Hoffmen, Planet Fashion, Fastrack, Bombay Dyeing,  to name a few.

Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman of the Ambuja Neotia Group, said on this launch: "Our group got this tender in the year 2008 but due to economic slowdown the project got stuck. We resumed our work in 2011 and took three years to complete the project, and today we have unveiled it for the people of Haldia. It has a great mix of retail, f&b, entertainment and office spaces. By the end of this year the mall will be fully operational with all the brands opening their outlets. We have done an investment of Rs 110 crore for this mall. Our aim is to gift the people of Haldia and the adjoining areas a joint where they can get enormous entertainment, fun and frolic. We have given our complete efforts to make it at par with any other mall which we have in the other cities so far as the ambience and facilities are concerned. While conceptualising the project it was our objective to make it a place where everyone will come and spent some quality time with family. Thus we have kept a lot of open spaces and cosy sitting arrangements have been done to make it an enjoyable destination for all age groups.”

In terms of plan it is characterized by an architectural expression of new age Bengal through an orchestration of spaces, colours and various design elements, coupled with a comprehensive mix of branded and unbranded retail space, Ambuja City Centre Haldia will be a complete family destination.

Elaborating on the architectural features of the mall, noted architect Vivek Singh Rathore explains, "The environment is like a lively piazza precinct in urban India. The feel of a'mela' has been interwoven through the architectural volumes, courtyards and corridors. The design encourages participation of natural light, air and interactive greens to build up a true biophyllic experience. The amphitheatre or Utsav Plaza is the nucleus of the mall where celebrations and events throughout the year will keep the mall at its vibrant best. To me a mall is not only a shopping destination but is a place of social gathering and celebration. The aim of this place is to make every visitor happy and if that is achieved then this'architecture' has done its job. This architectural piece is for togetherness, the playful colours will add vibrancy to one's life whenever a person will visit the place. The spaces also add elements of surprise and visual relief along with high street shopping and cafes, food courts, restaurants, promotional spaces and multiplex offer a memorable and pleasant experience for the visitors.”

City Centre Haldia will also address the need for up market commercial space in Haldia with 25, 000 sq ft of state-of-the-art office space.

Speaking on the launch, Pramod Dwivedi, Head, Group Real Estate Marketing, Ambuja Neotia Group, commented, "It gives me immense pleasure to extend the unique'City Centre' experience with several value additions at Ambuja City Centre in Haldia. A new lifestyle destination awaits the residents of Haldia and adjoining areas this puja. The mall promises a consumer experience that is bigger, wider, stronger and an address that makes you feel completely at home.”

Neotia further adds, "This mall is located little away from the main town of Haldia and thus it will be an outing spot for all as well. Also, we have selected very meticulously the brands which will cater to the mid-income group and they will get every stuff of their day-to-day use. Our intension is to create such family destinations and take this brand further in East zone. City Centre Patna is also in our pipeline and the work is on full swing, we will open it within few 2-3 years.”
