Bata to open large format stores across country

Bata India Ltd, global footwear and fashion accessory manufacturer and retailer is planning to expand its retail presence with larger format stores across country. Spread over 4000 sq ft, the larger format stores will be  targeting the middle class families with a one stop solution for contemporary items such as shoes, handbags and fashion accessories. 

Rajeev Gopala Krishnan, Group Managing Director, said that Bata has lot of brands to offer and to house each one of their brands; they need the retail space to have a minimum area of 3000 sq ft.  He further adds that sufficient space will help in creating an engaging shopper experience. While last year Bata opened 189 outlets in India, the company said that they plan to open around 100 stores every year.  Bata has also commenced their online store, as they believe shopping online will help the brand in keeping up with times. Rajeev Gopala krishnan says that their focus is to have more people come in to the store. Shoppers can check out the designs online and buy it from one of many stores. Bata has 1,350 outlets, in 500 cities across India making it one of the largest footwear retailers in India.
