East India witneses the second edition of"œKolkata Gem & Jewellery Fair”

The fair provided a great platform to the manufacturers and retailers of this segment, to connect and create business, thus meeting the larger industry needs of India.


UBM India, one of the largest organiser of jewellery fairs in India, organised the second international B2B jewellery fair in Eastern India - Kolkata Jewellery & Gem Fair 2015 at the Milan Mela Exhibition complex from 10th January - 12th January.
 
The exhibition provided a great platform to the manufacturers and retailers of this segment, to connect and create business, thus meeting the larger industry needs of India.

The fair was inaugurated by Dr. Amit Mitra Minister In-charge; Department of Finance, Commerce & Industry, Govt. Of West Bengal, and hosted in association with Calcutta Gem & Jewellery Association, having over 200 exhibitors, and about 6000 visitors.

Joji George, Managing Director, UBM India said, "India's gems and jewellery sector has been one of the fastest growing industries globally. The sector has contributed 6-7 per cent to India's GDP and provides gainful employment to around 2.5 million people. In our recent India study in with D&B, more than 40 per cent of the surveyed jewellery companies adopted the trade exhibition strategy, making it the top marketing strategy to promote business, validating trade exhibitions as a powerful source for showcasing their business. It has been a constant endeavour of UBM India to provide a platform to the manufacturers and retailers of this segment, to connect and create business, thus meeting the larger industry needs of India. KJGF 2015 is one such platform, poised to raise benchmarks and fuel trade for the jewellery industry in East India."
 
Dr. Amit Mitra assured that the Government of West Bengal will provide every possible help to the retailers and jewellery entrepreneurs and the Calcutta Gems & Jewellery Welfare Association to develop this particular industry. He said, "It is a great initiative and the Gems and Jewellery industry needs to take the Indian craftsmanship to the top for which the computer technology should also be integrated in the process to articulate the creativity that we have in this country to match it up with the developed nations like UK and U.SA.”

With UBM's market penetration, KJGF had drawn significant attention from buyers and international sourcing delegates across Nepal, Bangladesh, Turkey and UAE, with over 200 hosted buyers, who witnesed the largest display of traditional Bengal gold and diamond Jewellery. The Expo was also marked by the Golden Hand Awards honouring the traditional'karigars' for their craftsmanship.
