Gold’s Gym recently launched its 119th center in M3M Cosmopolitan, Gurgaon. With this launch the leading gym chain today has 18 outlets in Delhi-NCR region.
Talking to Retail4growth, Nikhil Kakkar, VP Franchising & Operations, Gold’s Gym India, said, “India has emerged as a country that doesn’t think anymore that fitness is a luxury. We are looking to open 15-20 more outlets by end of this fiscal taking the count to 135 in total. Further, we aim to touch a number of 150 outlets in 100 cities by 2019.”

Starting its operation in 2002 through corporate gym format, Gold’s Gym operates both in franchisee and company-owned expansion model and has presence in 75+ cities currently. Today, 15 gyms out of 119 ones are company-owned, while the rest are operated through various franchisee owners. The outlets have two formats – Gold’s Gym (spanning across around 7000 sq ft) and Gold’s Gym Express (spanning across around 4000 sq ft). The former format is available in metro cities and state capitals whereas the latter ones are for smaller cities. “We already penetrated in 20 small towns like Rohtak, Hissar, Karnal etc through our Gold’s Gym Express format. We are further focusing our energy towards these small towns,” Kakkar added.
