Oberoi Mall awarded LEED Certification for green features

The Mall becomes the first in India & the third in the world to receive the GOLD certification awarded for best sustained performance of buildings with respect to green features.

Oberoi Mall has received the prestigious LEED Green Building award in the Existing building category, and that too in its 6th year of operations. Commenting on the certification, Nirzar Jain - Vice-President Oberoi Mall said, "We are very proud to receive this certification from the US Green Building Council. The efforts over the last few years to minimize the environmental impact by our business has culminated in the Gold Certification. It is due to the constant efforts of our team and agency partners, which has helped us to be the first mall in India to get this certification.”
 
Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) certification is an official recognition that a project complies with the requirements prescribed within the LEED rating systems as created and maintained by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). The Leed certification program is administered by the Green Building Certification Institute and the Certification is valid for 3 years.
 
The rating is focused on sustained performance of buildings with respect to the green features. The overarching objective of this rating system is to facilitate building owners and facility managers in implementation of green strategies, measure their impacts and sustain the performance in the long run. The certification is awarded to encourage and facilitate the development of as energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
