Sephora to open small format outlets in India

By Satarupa Chakraborty | March 06, 2018

Sephora plans to include small towns in their store expansion plan and reveals their interest to open smaller stores. Sephora will also bring some of the in-store digital tools to uplift the shopping experiences at their flagship outlets.

Known for its large format stores, French multi brand beauty and cosmetics retailer Sephora will now look at opening small format stores, as part of their store scaling plan in smaller towns of India. Operating in India in partnership with Arvind Lifestyle Brands, the beauty retailer operates through 15 exclusive outlets spread across metros and mini metros across India. Earlier this year, Sephora also revealed its plan to add an approx number of 8-10 stores every year to its store network.

Confirming their plan to spread store network in smaller towns, Vivek Bali, COO, Sephora India, Arvind Beauty Brands, explained to Retail4growth, “Looking at rising affinity in beauty and hygiene products from all quarters in this country, we have planned to take our store experience to even smaller towns. The store format that we are looking at initially, as part of this growth plan, is smaller than our usual giant store format. We are also planning to bring exclusive digital in-store experiences that are available globally at Sephora outlets. These digital tools will help our trial-and-experience environment, which we take very seriously.”
