Gaurav Gupta unveils couture flagship

By Retail4Growth Bureau | October 26, 2018

Located in the heart of the historic Mehrauli area, New Delhi, designer Gaurav Gupta’s new store will be a first-of-its-kind experiential retail space unraveling the couturier’s dreamscape, with an added focus on haute couture and customisation.

Designer Gaurav Gupta celebrated the opening of his brand new couture flagship recently in New Delhi with an exclusive fashion party. Special guests Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Prateik Babbar and Miss World Manushi Chillar were present at the new address amongst the city’s creative and cultural catalysts.

Located in the heart of the historic Mehrauli area, the new store will be a first-of-its-kind experiential retail space unraveling the couturier’s dreamscape, with an added focus on haute couture and customisation.

Spread over 5000 sq ft, it includes five-concept rooms - a haute couture and customisation atelier, a bridal salon and a demi couture section for women. Fast emerging as a key focus for the brand, the GG Man collection will also have a dedicated space, including formal and occasion wear for grooms. The brand’s special collaborations and projects will also be available at this location.

To celebrate this landmark occasion, the brand presented its latest couture collection ‘Descend’, through an immersive theatrical experience by artists collective, CROW. A site-responsive artistic performance, the show brought together fashion and conceptual art through living installations scattered through the store. Actors Jim Sarbh, Ayesha Raza, cellist Sayan Sinha and dancer Aseng Borang amongst others embodied less explored feelings such as Melancholia, False Dreams, Rumour, Desire and Delirium, through custom Gaurav Gupta couture looks that are reflective of the mood.

The party was abuzz with guests who were seen exploring the new store over cocktails and conversations. This flagship joins two other Gaurav Gupta stores in India, currently at DLF Emporio in New Delhi and Kala Ghoda in Mumbai.
