The unique studio also houses twelve different settings for creating the perfect atmosphere that is conducive to enjoy the lighting application.

Marici identified the need for a place to showcase innovative lighting concepts having integrated lighting deeply with lighting controls. With the aim to create a space to show different applications and how light can add value in these different scenarios,  a 4500 sq. ft. Marici Experience Centre was recently unveiled in the cosy yet accessible neighbourhood of Salt Lake, Kolkata, where the brand displays innovative lighting solutions along with home automation and decorative fans.

At the Centre, an array of brands has been carefully curated to provide solutions that are useful and sustainable, each having their own distinct design philosophy.

While speaking with VM&RD Ritvik Kumar, one of the Director of Marici Experience Centre shares, "Our aim was to create a space where light can be experienced in its purest and most beautiful form. Light is a divine energy and it cannot be experienced in a restricted environment. The usual concept is to flood the ceiling and walls with hundreds of lighting fixtures - but in this manner light cannot be appreciated. We have created a unique studio where different applications are showcased in an atmosphere that is conducive to enjoy the light.”

Further on the background and the design inspiration behind Marici Experience Centre he adds, "Marici - the Boddhisatva popularly referred to as the "Woman endowed with the rays of light” - guides our philosophy. We pay tribute to the Queen of Heavens, both in the products we use and in our design process - by attempting to achieve the "perfect balance” of form and functionality - and also reducing our footprint on the environment. Marici stands for beauty, strength and spiritualism and these are aspects we wish to reflect in our work.”

Marici has been part of this lighting industry for more than two decades and seen it evolve over the years. The company established its name by successfully taking part in big projects like Howrah Station & NSCBI Airport New Terminal, amongst others. "Now as our fourth generation gets ready to enter the industry, we are foraying into a niche segment of premium architectural and decorative lighting,” Ritvik says.

With a dedicated team of designers, engineers and a capable installation team, the brand will provide comprehensive integrated lighting solutions for retail, commercial, residential and hospitality projects. With the shift towards LED lighting, we aim to be a part of the growth this segment has witnessed in the last few years, and have brought a diverse range of LED products for different applications. With a strong focus on lighting controls, we attempt to achieve energy savings along with comfort and convenience for the end user.”

The state-of-the-art lighting studio has a wide range of international branded products on display (both indoor and outdoor), ranging from track systems to profiles, recessed to surface mounted ceiling fixtures, underwater to ground embedded fixtures, fans to chandeliers, table lamps to floor lamps, all running on a centrally operated lighting control system. The subtle yet minimalistic design in the mock rooms like living room, bed room, dining room, and commercial mock rooms like art and photo gallery will give the customers an idea how the lighting can add the perfect ambience and mood for that setting. Targeted especially at the architects and interior designers, the studio will be providing customised solutions to the general mass as well from Section B to A+ category.

Vivek Singh Rathore, Architect at SALIENT, who has been instrumental in executing the project shares, "Marici is an experience of the intangible through the tangible. The divinity of light is celebrated here through the various light fixtures and fittings from across the globe. The design has evolved as an experience gallery integrated in three levels. Various sections of this elaborate show space played with the dynamic elements and the static ones.

Hospitality is intertwined in the gallery where you experience light hood in different setting and moods. The twelve exclusive sections can personalize twelve different settings simultaneously without any interference. With music and multiple video projections, the experience of light is truly enlightening.”

Further after consolidating this centre, the brand plans to expand their retail footprint in Mumbai and Bangalore very soon.
