ABC Chasmewale: Pioneering the eyewear category in Lucknow.

By Namisha Raj | Vjmedia Works | Mumbai | September 27, 2017

Enriched with more than fifty years of expertise, ABC Chasmewale remains the pioneers for genuine eyecare provider in U.P.

Hailing from Sind in Punjab, Kishan Mulwani started ABC Chashmewale in 1963. Over time, ABC Chashmewale expanded its reach to different parts of Lucknow starting from Alambagh, Qesarbagh, Bhoothnath, Indiranagar and the recent one being Gomtinagar, Patrkarpuram. With four stores across Lucknow, the expansion happened purely keeping in mind the growing business and growing demographics of Lucknow. “People would find extremely difficult to travel all the way to one specific ABC Chashmewale store from all corners of the city, so for easy accessibility we tried to open the stores in the different areas of Lucknow,” says Yogesh Mulwani, son of Kishan Mulwani.

Yogesh Mulwani is interested in further expansion only when he has more trained staff and more trained and trusted & committed team to work with. Talking about the collection and target audience, Yogesh says “We cater from masses to classes, as we have frames starting from 300 INR to 80,000 INR.” ABC Chashmewale has all international brands under its umbrella, where Yogesh often does the sourcing of frames by himself from Italy. ABC Chashmewale product range is their USP and that is affordable for masses to classes. “We have professional staff training; and we have 6-7 optometrists who do the eye testing, while the sale staff is also well trained to take care of customers need,” he adds.

In terms of store display and space, the ABC Chashmewale stores are bigger as compared to the usual optical stores in India. The space of showroom and the display areas is huge so that the entire product range is displayed at one place for better visibility. The store size varies from 700 sqft - 800 sqft. Yogesh Mulwani’s wife Anisha Mulwani has played a vital role in conceptualising the store. Her design experience comes from her visits to Europe and doing intensive research. The flooring, lighting, furniture are all sourced from India and the chairs and wooden storage boxes are all made in Lucknow itself. “Enriched with more than fifty years of expertise, we remain the pioneers for genuine eyecare provider in U.P. Our vision is to have customers for life,” concludes Yogesh Mulwani.l
