The brand will launch 20 more restaurants within this fiscal. Started in 2006, Barbeque Nation wanted to strengthen its presence in the metro cities first, but is now looking at Tier I and Tier II cities as well.

Barbeque Nation, one of the popular casual dining restaurant chains in India, recently opened their second outlet at Park Street, Kolkata. The 7,000 sq.ft. outlet can accommodate 170 covers and the foodies of Kolkata may experience the joy of grilling their own vegetarian and non-vegetarian barbecues on live grills at their own tables.

On the launch of this fine dining destination, Uday Menon, Chief Business Officer, Barbeque Nation said, "Barbeque Nation's buffet style of serving and live on the grill concept has been very well received in Kolkata as we are present here in Salt Lake since last six years. It is this success which motivated us to open a second outlet and we were looking for the correct space in this area from a very long time. Park Street is the culinary heart of Kolkata and foodies delight. It is important for any food and beverage brand to have a presence in this area in order to tap into the gastronomic epicentre of the city.”

Speaking with VM&RD he further added, "The look and feel of the restaurant follows the basic theme conceptualised by our in-house team of Barbeque Nation. The idea is to give the experience of a mediaeval European inn as the food of Barbeque Nation is all about charcoal grilled delicacies.   The decor is rustic and casual with wood and open-brick wall surface and stony surface. The blue inlays on each table has been inspired by the Mediterranean culture. The sizzle of the grills livens up the whole atmosphere and gives diners a comfortable and cosy experience. We are a pioneer in India to promote'DIY' (do-it-yourself) cuisine with a concept of unlimited starters in India and our cuisine is drawn from Mediterranean, American, Oriental, Asian and the Indian subcontinent.”

The brand has 50 operational outlets so far and plans to take it upto 70 Pan India in this FY. Menon adds, "We plan to launch two outlets per month to achieve the target within March 2016. Recently we launched the Raipur outlet and in East the brand is coming up in Bhubaneshwar and Patna. In 2006 when we started, the strategy was to strengthen our presence in the Metro cities first but now we are looking at Tier I and Tier II cities which has immense potential. Also in Kolkata we are planning our third outlet and scouting for perfect locations in the Southern part of the city. Barbeque Nation has been growing at a pace of 8-9% YOY and we hope to continue the journey by achieving a more significant footprints across the country.”
