Brinda Sirkar launches her jewellery studio in Kolkata

Brinda Sirkar, the popular jewellery designer, recently unveiled her jewellery studio along with her latest Bidri Collection. Aptly located at one the oldest shopping precinct of the Kolkata city at Gariahat, customers can get an exclusive and customised suggestions for all their needs related to jewellery and ornaments.

Brinda shares with VM&RD, "This space is very close to my heart. Here people come to me with different ideas and concepts and I try to suggest them what will suit their personality. My customers are varied and I have worked with'would be brides', working professionals, professors, housewives and anyone who has a taste for beautiful piece of art and not just a jewellery is my client.”

When asked why she chose Bidri as a debut collection, Brinda said: "A medieval craft of great intricacy, Bidri is quite ubiquitous as articles and artefacts; and always in silver. I reimagined them as jewellery in gold, and working with a double National-award winning craftsman, we recreated Bidri in the traditional black metal alloy inlayed with fine gold, to stunning effects. I then designed their framing as necklaces, pendant and earrings all in 22K gold".

Brinda specialises in solid gold and working exclusively with Bengal goldsmiths, specialising in Bengal gold jewellery yet interpreting history through craft, traditions across India.
