Commitment and Call to action: Jayna packaging steps up in fight against covid-19

By Mohit Manghani | April 29, 2020

From disposable beds to face shields, the firm has come up with innovative cost-effective solutions to combat the deadly virus

With the spike in number of COVID-19 cases by the hour, hospitals, nursing homes and health care facilities are experiencing the shortage of necessary resources needed for the fight. As manufacturing sites crawl back to operations, there is an urgent need for medical gears, masks, beds, and face shields to decimate the impact of the virus. With an aim to address the issue, pop manufactures are introducing innovative solutions to curb the spread of the pandemic.

Taking the lead, Mumbai based Jayna packaging has designed disposable cardboard medical beds to support in the fight against the pandemic. The corrugated bed is a lightweight, recyclable medical bed made from corrugated fiberboard. The cost-effective bed can withstand 300 kgs of weight and can be easily assembled, sanitized, and withstand daily mopping. The manufacturing cost of the beds is 25 percent lesser than the beds which are currently used in hospital wards.

Also, keeping in mind the shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the medical staff combating the CoVID-19 outbreak, Jayna Packaging has also designed disposable face shields made of cardboard and plastic.

Haresh Mehta, Founder and Director of Jayna Packaging shared the design and layouts of the products are being approved by the health officials of the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and civic-run hospitals. He even stated that some of the beds and medical gear are already being used by doctors and paramedic staff deployed at the Dharavi quarantine facility and treatment centres.
