The Rose, promoter of Dhansiri, plans to open four more outlets in this state and one each in Siliguri and Durgapur

Dhansiri, the all new 2,000 sq. ft. Bengali speciality fine dining eatery from the house of The Rose restaurants, has debuted in City Centre 1, Salt Lake, Kolkata, just before the Durga Puja festival. "Abar ashibo feere Dhansiritir teere” (meaning- I would come back each time on the banks of Dhanisiri river), the resonating poetry line of the Bengali romantic and nature poet Jibanananda Das is the principal theme at this eatery. The place offers a delicious dine-in option with its array of authentic Bengali cuisine from both sides of the border.

Subrata Das, Director, The Rose, shares, "We wanted to combine the romanticism of Bengali poetry with our food. The inspiration from the iconic poem of Jibanananda Das transcends from the very name into all facets of this distinctive 60 cover restaurant - from the interiors to the food and even in the menu which curiously turns lines from his poems into the names of the food and makes the regular "Ilish Bhaja” into the poetic "Mor Polatoka Priya Ilish Bhaja” and plain steamed rice becomes "Khoi Ronga Shada Bhaat”. The categories are described not simply as starters or fish but "Ihara Amay Bhalobashe”, "Machher Moton Ami Cholitechhi Jaal Chhinre”, "Dighir Joler Gondhe Rupali Chitol” and "Dhoya Otha Bhaat, Kothay Giyechhe Shob” and such.”

The ambience of the restaurant combines poetry, food and lore of Bengal giving an authentic feel of the culture. The paintings on each wall depicts different famous poetry lines of the Bard and it is a unique tribute to him which the group intends to establish as they foray into Bengali F&B sector.

Props like the table mats are another conversation starter, the use of short poems or "chhora” creates a nostalgic feel for the Bengalis who are brought up on a healthy dose of these. The evocative poems are the rhymes one learns as a child from grandmothers, aunts and mother.

Das further informs, "City Centre I has been a very natural choice for Dhansiri. The Rose chain of restaurants has been satiating the food lovers of Kolkata for over 15 years with four other outlets operating in different parts of the city serving a variety of cuisines, from Chinese, North Indian to European and Mughlai. For Dhansiri, our aim is to launch four more outlets in this state with two in the southern part of Kolkata and outside the metro city we are planning one each in Siliguri and Durgapur. After this, immediately our next F&B project is coming up at Kankurgachi in the city where we will be launching six fine-dining restaurants serving six different types of cuisine.”
