Hyundai targets 600 selling points by end of fiscal, not too keen on digital showrooms

Auto major Hyundai plans to grow its dealership network marginally while completing 600 selling points by 2017.

South Korean automobile major Hyundai plans to operate from 600 selling points in 600 cities by end of the fiscal. Currently in partnership with 475 dealers across country, the company plans to scale up its dealership strength only to 500 by 2017.


Launching the all new Hyundai Xcent recently in the capital, YK Koo, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motors India Ltd., explained, “We currently have three types of showrooms, out of which digital is the latest one. Digital showrooms are aimed at generating customers experience and interest along with garnering enquiry. However, going forward, our focus is not to grow on digital showroom network as it’s for niche segment and can find its place only at places like malls and airports.” Hyundai plans to invest INR 5000 crores by 2020 to develop 8 new upcoming products, which will be mix of new segment and hybrid products. Talking on the business, Koo added, “We plan to make our old Xcent and Grand i10 available for premium cab players of the country. Right now, we 7%-10% of our total retailed products are sold to commercial buyers but we plan to scale it up by selling 2500-3000 units to them by end of this fiscal.”
