IKEA to incorporate omni-channel approach to expand in India

The company strikes a clear balance between physical and digital world and aims to open 25 stores in nine India cities, by 2025

 

The Swedish furniture retailer, IKEA plans to fortify their network with the introduction of omni-channel approach after expansion slows down in India, due to the on-going pandemic. Considering the country as a very important market, the company aspires to continue its expansion through the new channel and explore more Indian cities.

Peter Betzel, CEO, IKEA India states, “The pandemic may have slowed us down a bit like it has done for everyone, but we are adjusting to the new reality and are on track with our projects. Our Mumbai store will open within the next half year or so.”

“It is important to have a clear communication in all our channels to our customers as many are depending on online product descriptions, customer testimonials, quality standards, usability, etc to make a purchase decision. As many potential customers are first time digital users, we want to support them in their online journey,” Betzel added.

Besides making all efforts to grow digitally, the furniture giant continues to stress more on physical stores as it is an essential hub for home furnishing products; so that people can touch, feel and revitalize their experience before making investments. 

With the implementation of omni-channel, the company wants to strike a balance between digital and physical and aims to open 25 stores by 2025 in nine cities across India.
