Bigbasket begins operations in Kolkata

To start with, Bigbasket will stock its inventory in a 35,000 sq ft warehouse in Taratala at Kolkata.


The Bangalore-based online food and grocery store, Bigbasket, as a part of their expansion plans will be serving the eastern market. Hari Menon, Co-founder and CEO of Bigbasket said, "Calcutta is the first city in the east where we have become operational and so it is significant to our growth plans in this region".

The shoppers will be able to place orders on Bigbasket's website or through a mobile application. The company will be stocking their products in its own warehouses. Bigbasket to start with, will stock its inventory in a 35,000 sq ft warehouse in Taratala.
 
Currently they offer services in Bangalore, Mysore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada-Guntur, Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Delhi & Lucknow city limits. Big Basket is targeting a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore by the end of this fiscal, a 354.5 per cent growth over its last fiscal's turnover of Rs 220 crore.
