The menswear brand is planning to expand its retail footprint into cities like Jaipur, Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Blue Buddha, the Ahmedabad-based men’s casual wear brand that started as a manufacturing business in 1990 and launched its own label in 2008, is now focusing on expanding its retail presence with bigger stores.
Currently, Blue Buddha operates 12 stores in Ahmedabad, of which the brand opened four large-format stores last year – three in Ahmedabad and one in Surat. Building on this momentum, the company is now targeting approximately 20 new store openings in the coming year. While Gujarat remains its main market, Blue Buddha is now looking at cities like Jaipur, Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, for future expansion.
Over the past year, the brand has shifted from smaller outlets of around 300 sq. ft. to bigger stores ranging between 2,000 and 2,400 sq. ft. This change came after one of its larger stores performed exceptionally well, both in terms of customer response and sales.
“Our focus is to scale in a structured way,” said Sahil Gohel, Director of Blue Buddha during an exclusive interaction with Retail4Growth. “We are strengthening our core through e-commerce insights and then taking that learning into physical retail. Larger stores have shown us the kind of potential we can unlock, and going forward, we want to replicate that success across markets.”
Blue Buddha has seen significant improvements and upgradations post-COVID. Going ahead, the brand is preparing to integrate in-store technology into its retail experience and exploring features such as digital screens and virtual try-on solutions.
