Chennai-based salon and spa brand Bounce has launched India’s first eco-friendly salon at OMR in Chennai today. The eco salon is built on the model of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’ to minimize the use of everyday resources.

Spread across 2,000 sqft, the eco salon is designed by Chennai-based Saran Associates. 70% of the salon operation is solar powered and over 70% of the salon interior is made from sustainable materials. Composite chip board is used for the furniture. The tiles in the reception table or seating area are made from railway track wood, the lighting from banana fibres and the feature wall is made out of waste granite.

“Vikram Mohan, co-founder and Director of Spalon, has a strong belief in sustainable way of living. He wanted to bring the same concept to the salon and do a complete sustainable model of salon. The idea was also to bring nature into it,” Ashateet Saran, Design Head of Saran Associates, told Retail4Growth.

The salon was inaugurated by Davide Bollati, Co-Founder of Italian hair care brand Davines.
