The company has added backend software to its transparent LED offering to help retail brands manage display content across multiple stores and maintain consistent brand communication.
Brite Edge, a technology and architectural media solutions company, has expanded its transparent LED offering by combining the display hardware with backend software, allowing brands to centrally manage and control content across multiple stores. The move comes as the company looks to address one of the key challenges faced by retail brands operating across franchise and company-owned locations, i.e., maintaining consistency in brand communication.
According to Meher Luthra, Director of Brite Edge, the company’s market experience showed that simply introducing a new display technology was not enough. While transparent LED can help brands create a differentiated storefront, managing content across multiple locations can become difficult when individual stores operate independently.
“Even if nine stores are displaying a campaign as planned, but one store is running it a day late, the brand loses that day of marketing at that location, despite having already invested in the campaign,” she said, explaining the crux of the problem that the company seeks to address for its clients.
Under the new approach, the transparent LED installations can be connected to a brand’s backend system. This allows the head office to manage content remotely across different stores, which further ensures that campaigns and creatives are displayed in the required sequence and at the right time.
The system is designed to reduce the operational dependency on store-level staff. Once the installation is complete, staff do not need extensive training to operate the display. Content can be managed centrally by the brand or by Brite Edge, depending on the arrangement.
The company sees transparent LED as a long-term investment, with a claimed lifespan of up to 1 lakh operating hours. However, Meher also acknowledged that pricing and awareness remain challenges for the technology in India.
“Our biggest learning has been that a new technology has to do more than look impressive. It needs to solve a problem for the client. There is a difference between simply bringing a technology into the market and taking responsibility for the solution end to end,” she said.
Transparent LED technology is finding its place in retail, but questions around cost, content management and maintenance are likely to shape how widely brands adopt it. Brite Edge’s focus on making transparent LED a more practical proposition for brands through centralised content management is an important step towards wider use.
