Cargill to enter into sweet food and carb categories

The FMCG brand is slated to enter the sweet food and carbohydrate categories.


Gurgaon-based Cargill Foods India, with brands like Sweekar edible oils, Leonardo Olive Oil and Nature Fresh Atta, plans to enter the categories like sweet foods, sweetener and value-added carbohydrate variants. Today, Cargil is present through more than lakhs of outlets combining GT and MT.


Deoki Muchhal, MD, Cargill Foods India, told Retail4growth, “All our brands are sensitive towards cost-effectiveness, nourishment and heath factor. At the same time, we don’t want our consumers to compromise on taste. Over years, we have realized that sweet foods are frowned upon when it comes to eating healthy. That prompted us to think more within the world of sweet foods that won’t be associated with bad health. We have found similar attitude towards carbohydrate-based foods. Hence, we felt the latter category should also be addressed. However, we just can’t adopt what runs in western world. We need to customize it according to Indian consumers.”
