The digital-first, biodegradable, open-footwear brand says it now plans to scale its offline presence across 5,000 points of sale.
Chupps Footwear, positioned as India’s homegrown open-footwear disruptor headquartered in Mumbai, has officially stepped into retail with the launch of its first-ever exclusive store at R City Mall, Ghatkopar (W).
Founded in 2019 as a digital-first brand that redefined comfort-driven, sustainable footwear for everyday India, this milestone marks Chupps’ transition from a cult online favorite to a full-fledged experiential retail destination, says the company.
“The store opening is more than just a new address, it’s a homecoming. The new store gives consumers the chance to experience Chupps’ signature sliders, v-straps, and sandals up close, crafted with eco-friendly, 100% vegan materials, designed for the Indian lifestyle, and powered by the brand’s biodegradable TruZero™ sole technology that naturally breaks down within two years of disposal,” says the company.
Speaking on the store launch, Yashesh Mukhi, Founder of Chupps Footwear, said, “This launch in Mumbai is truly special, it’s where our journey began. From the design lab to bold outdoor campaigns, Chupps has always been about connecting with people who care about comfort and the planet. With this store, we’re creating a space where our community can experience that connection in person, to walk in, feel the difference, and understand what conscious comfort really means.”
Adding to this, Khairav Duggal, CEO of Chupps Footwear, said, “As India’s open-footwear category evolves, Chupps continues to lead with innovation. From biodegradable sliders to washable street billboards, we’ve always believed sustainability should be fun, functional, and fashionable. Our first store brings these values to life, giving customers a window into the future of sustainable style.”
“Since 2022, Chupps Footwear has sold over a million pairs across India and built a strong community of repeat buyers, especially in Mumbai, which remains one of its fastest-growing markets. Opening its first store in its home city is a natural next step in strengthening this connection. The brand now plans to scale its offline presence across 5,000 points of sale while continuing to push boundaries in comfort technology, sustainable materials, and design collaborations tailored for India’s new-age consumers,” shares the company.
