Duty Free retail management firm Dufry's year-closing report mentions India as a strong market amongst many countries and reveals the firm's plans of expansion and growth.

World’s leader in duty free and travel retail management, Dufry, in its recent report on achieving 2016 targets, has mentioned to have witnessed strong growth in India along with neighbouring country Sri Lanka while other locations in Asia such as South Korea, Indonesia and Cambodia performed well.

Dufry also managed to sign a substantial number of contract extensions, which account for close to 80,000 m2 while opening 41,800 m2 of gross new retail space and refurbished additional 30,000 m2 globally.

Julian Diaz, CEO, Dufry Group, said, “2016 ended up being a successful year for Dufry. Throughout the year we focused on and successfully accomplished our three main goals: driving organic growth, completing the integration of World Duty Free, and maximizing cash flow generation to deleverage. The global alignment of our operational approach and the extensive refurbishment achievements not only supported our performance in 2016, but will also be one of our key organic growth drivers in 2017. Going forward, we have developed a “customer focused, digitally driven” strategy approach, which will allow us to drive sales by increasing our penetration rate, the average spend per ticket and the spend per passenger.”
