The campaign was initiated for International Plastic Bag Free Day, through which V-Bazaar aims to reach one lakh customers across 130 stores over the next year.

On International Plastic Bag Free Day (July 3), V-Bazaar Retail launched its “Reuse It for a Better Tomorrow” campaign to encourage customers to reuse their shopping bags. The company had already stopped using single-use plastic carry bags across its 130 stores.

Under the campaign, customers who bring back their V-Bazaar shopping bag on future visits will receive a discount on their purchase. Those who reuse their bags multiple times during the year will also be eligible for gift hampers. Store staff inform customers about the initiative at the billing counters, and the details are also printed on the bags.

Hemant Agarwal, Founder and CMD, V-Bazaar Retail, said, “A discount works better than a good intention. People forget messages, they don't forget a deal. The intention is always there, this just gives people a reason to actually act on it.”

Through the campaign, the company aims to reach one lakh customers across its 130 stores over the next year. It is also exploring ways to reduce plastic use in packaging, tags and hangers, although no timeline has been announced yet.
