The curated range of modular and easy to replicate furniture systems included booths, community tables and flexible dining formats, along with service counters and integrated units.
Nando’s, the multinational restaurant chain, recently opened its outlet at Lake Shore Mall – Thane, where the furniture played a vital role in reflecting the globally recognised, vibrant design identity of the brand, while being relevant to the pace and energy of a Mumbai mall environment. Taking on this vision, Waverider Marketing Solutions (WRMS), a leading retail execution partner for leading brands across India, worked closely on bringing this vision to life.
As Naren Kashyap and Hari Jha, Co-Founder of WRMS, explain, “Nando’s intended to elevate comfort, improve spatial efficiency, and introduce a more refined and durable system without losing the warmth and character the brand is known for.”
A big part of the project was creating something that could be easily replicated across different outlets but still feel unique. “The focus was on building a modular and scalable furniture system that balances cost efficiency with strong brand recall,” Naren explains.“Standardisation allowed ease of replication, while thoughtful customisation ensured the space remained true to Nando’s distinctive, experience-driven retail identity.”
Speaking about one of the major challenges faced by Waverider, Hari shares, “Designing for high footfall while maintaining a premium look was a key challenge for us. The furniture needed to withstand constant use, be easy to maintain, and still feel visually engaging. Additionally, aligning global design sensibilities with site-specific constraints and tight mall timelines required precise execution and coordination.”
The solution came in the form of a thoughtfully curated range of modular furniture. Waverider developed a mix of modular seating, including booths, community tables, and flexible dining formats, along with service counters and integrated units. Materials such as high-grade engineered wood, laminates, metal frameworks, and durable tabletops were chosen for longevity and ease of maintenance.
Despite it being a first-time collaboration, the delivery remained smooth and right on schedule. As Nando’s team shared, “Considering this was Waverider’s first project with Nando's India, the professionalism, superior quality standards, and strong commitment to timelines demonstrated by the team are truly commendable. The craftsmanship, finishing, and overall execution reflect meticulous attention to detail and excellent coordination.”
