MUJI comes to the capital, to open store at Mall of India NOIDA soon

New Delhi welcomes its first MUJI store spread across 5400 sq ft at Select Citywalk mall.

International lifestyle retailer from Japan, MUJI opens its first store in city at New Delhi’s Select CITYWALK mall. Spread across 5400 sq ft, this is also the brand’s third store after Mumbai and Bangalore. The store’s GC work has been handled by Mumbai-based Details, while fixtures have been imported from China and Japan and have also been supplied by fixture manufacturer Renam. The next store of MUJI is coming up at NOIDA’s Mall of India later this year.  
 
Part of Japan’s Ryohin Keikaku Co. Ltd., MUJI, which originates from the Japanese phrase ‘Mujirushi Ryohin’ meaning ‘no-brand, good quality,’ focuses deeply on creating products that are truly fundamental to everyday life, sans the unnecessary complexities. To this end, the brand adheres to its three founding principles - selection of the most suitable raw materials, streamlining of production processes and simplification of packaging, all while considering the environment. In fact, finishes and embellishments are minimised so as to keep costs and wastage down. The brand offers an extensive lifestyle range in India, including furniture, homeware, stationery, electronics, travel goods, beauty products and apparel.

The brand will soon find addresses in metros and mini metros.” Responding to the experience of coining such large format stores, Mehta informed, “MUJI’s first store at Mumbai’s Palladium mall spans across only 2400 sq ft. This store is close to 6000 sq ft. Some stores may open with even larger spaces. Finding strategic location for such stores isn’t an easy task, but RBL finds its way depending on the reputation we have earned through years.”
