Xiaomi launches ‘Mi Store-on-Wheels’, brings retail experience to rural India

The Chinese smart phone manufacturer, Xiaomi introduces ‘store on wheels’ concept in India. The pilot project is first launched in Chhattisgarh, connecting places from Basna to Sankara and Bhawarpur to Pithora. Manu Kumar Jain, Global VP and MD, Xiaomi announced,” Excited to launch “Mi Store-on-wheels”, an innovative concept that brings retail experience to the heart of India, connecting villages through a moving store. ”

”With this new initiative and having the largest exclusive single brand retail network, we are determined to reach the remotest areas in the country and address the needs of customers, bringing the Mi store experience to their neighbourhood,” added B. MuraliKrishnan, COO, Mi India.

The mobile pop-up stores were conceptualized in 40 days and will offer a moving retail experience to non-metro dwellers. Every vehicle has a distinct serial number on its door that enables the company to track the mobile stores. The stores will also adhere to the safety measures while in crowd, for a safer experience.
