SuperMarche,  a recent project by Sync Design Studio  is an exotic grocery and essentials lifestyle store in Ludhiana, and is an example of how space design rises up to  meet the needs of the urban consumer in the new normal. With its Covid responsive design, SuperMarche aims to lead the way in the post-pandemic retail architecture era, says Sync Design Studio.

SuperMarche arose as a solution to the shopping needs of an anxious consumer. “Architects have the responsibility to help people shift from their old lifestyle patterns to the new as smoothly as possible. We understood that this particular project needed to have a dispersion model instead of the traditionally followed model of concentration in shopping outlets,” says Sync Design studio statement.

The store has minimal accents fused with heterogenous design elements. Arched glass facade with a double height chandelier make for an appealing store entrance. Further, elements such as a 20 ft high mirror wall and a multi product wall art logo are the other highlights.

Rafters and mirrors on the exposed ceiling  enhance reflection while adding to the premium shopping experience.  Striped and dynamic patterns on the floor lend a sense of continuity and cohesiveness to the whole space. Overall it shows what thoughtful design can do to enhance the shopping experience even in a grocery and essentials environment.
