A brand that spells India through its products; it's Chumbak. And to gear up your imagination, chumbak.com has risen from the digital space to land as a brick and mortar store, which now dwells on Bangalore's CMH Road.

The essence of the brand Chumbak lies in all that makes India…well…INDIA. Common Indian phrases and expressions, the diverse attire and core Indian elements come through in an animated way which expresses the fun of the Indian context and makes you go 'Oh yeah, that's true!' The emphasis on the rickshwalla to the bobbling Indian heads, Chumbak brings out all. Well, to categorize it, it's a gift store. But to let you in on a little secret, it is stuff you'll just have to have for yourself!

Chumbak started its online play in 2010 and has not looked back ever since. In the physical sphere they retailed with MBOs and as demand shouted, here they are today with a whopping 2400 sq ft store. The design of the store divulges the character the brand wishes to portray.

At the store entrance, the Indian virtue of warmth and hospitality is encountered. The material brick, the elevated steps and the peek-a-boo window pose as inviting elements. The presence of a gate-keeper which is quite an Indian style, is symbolized with the enlarged bobble head from the house of Chumbak.

Words of wisdom: Reveal your experience cards at the entrance itself and the customer will look forward to come in.

'Make it a happy place!' was the brief given by Chumbak to the design firm 4 Dimensions. And when the brand itself makes the customer happy, what better way to infuse happiness than use the products themselves as store elements! Damaged products of the brand itself were taken to craft sculptures and draw an interior language.

Words of wisdom: When your product sells like hotcakes, store design through products is like a cherry on the cake!

A diverse range of fixtures with different finishes serve as display stands. Everywhere you look, it is something new. Monotony and a singular language are left redundant - quite like the product range itself. It drives an interest to explore further and for compulsive shoppers, it is a paradise!

The space below the staircase, the staircase itself and various such nooks have been taken up to create arty displays. It's not about VM, it's just where they are placed.

Words of wisdom: Unexpected encounters with display draw a lot of attention.

The entire space is made up with fixtures, furniture and products. No walls or partitions guide the space. The fixtures and furniture are designed with the idea of levels of display and serve as multi-use elements. Re-arrangement and refreshed displays can therefore be accommodated all the time and space always has a new vibe.
