Celebrating the culture and character of Juhu, the store uses interactive installations and sensory experiences to make shopping more engaging and memorable.
For Shoppers Stop, the relaunch of its Juhu store was about creating a space that offers much more than shopping. The idea was to transform the store from a transactional destination into a place where customers can discover, explore, and enjoy memorable experiences. Every element of the store has been designed to create moments that customers can connect with emotionally while they shop.
Beauty and fragrances welcome shoppers on the ground floor. From there, customers naturally move into watches, handbags, sunglasses, and other premium accessories before exploring men's and women's fashion. "The store layout is designed around a customer-first journey, with a strong focus on premium discovery and seamless movement across categories,” says Jatin Jaluthria, GM – VM Head at Shoppers Stop.
Bringing ‘Juhu’ into the store
One of the most interesting things about the store is how it reflects the neighbourhood it belongs to. “Experiential design has been seamlessly integrated across the store to create memorable moments that go beyond shopping while celebrating the spirit of Juhu and Mumbai,” says Jatin.
A multi-sensory installation, ‘Echoes of Fragrance’ combines scent, music, and storytelling to make fragrance discovery more immersive. The store also features Juhu Seashore, a kinetic art installation inspired by the movement of waves along Mumbai's iconic coastline. Adding another layer of local connection is Bollywood Bioscope, an interactive experience that takes visitors through different eras of Indian cinema.
"Customers are invited to look through the bioscope lens, where they experience a specially curated video celebrating different eras of Bollywood and Indian cinema," he adds.
Crafted for longer dwell times
The store's interactive elements have been created to encourage deeper engagement. “Today's customers are no longer looking at retail stores as purely transactional spaces. They are seeking destinations that offer discovery, engagement and personalisation alongside shopping," says Jatin.
The Personal Shopper Lounge is one such example. Inspired by Mumbai's Art Deco heritage, the space offers customers a more personalised shopping experience in a comfortable setting. According to Jatin, these experience-led zones create natural pauses within the shopping journey and encourage customers to spend more time in the store.
Celebrating every category
While the store houses a wide range of categories, each one has been given a distinct identity. Beauty and fragrances make a strong first impression, while accessories such as watches, handbags, footwear, and sunglasses are presented in dedicated spaces that allow customers to engage more closely with individual brands.
"What makes the store unique is that many of these categories have been designed with boutique-like shop-in-shop environments," says Jatin. These branded spaces are designed to mirror the experience customers would typically find in standalone luxury and premium stores around the world.
Technology with a purpose
Technology has been integrated very thoughtfully into the fragrance section through the Echoes of Fragrance installation. “Through this experience, fragrance is brought to life through a combination of scent, sound, and immersive storytelling. The technology helps customers connect with fragrances in a more intuitive and emotional way, transforming the traditional fragrance-shopping experience into something more memorable and interactive.
Beyond customer engagement, the space also gives fragrance brands an opportunity to showcase launches, campaigns, and exclusive collections. From a business perspective, it also enables Shoppers Stop to collaborate more closely with brand partners and monetise the space through innovative activations and premium visibility opportunities.
A more elevated experience
For Jatin, the Juhu store represents an important evolution of the Shoppers Stop retail format and among one of the most premium and experiential stores in the country.
From boutique-style brand environments and curated lighting to immersive installations and a signature store fragrance, every detail has been designed to elevate the overall experience.
