Spencer's Retail attracts shoppers with in-store festive splendour

The brand brings in innovation through visual merchandising elements and other ATL/BTL tools as methods to generate exigency and stimulate customers in their buying decision.

Spencer's Retail Limited, the hypermarket chain of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, recently rolled out their'Christmas Delights' campaign as a part of their shopper marketing initiatives across major outlets of the brand in Kolkata including Quest Mall, South City Mall, Axis Mall and in the Spencer's store in Gurgaon.

As a part of the festive celebration and attract the shoppers, the brand created an innovative zone called "Selfie with Santa”, where people of different age groups thronged to click a picture with Santa Clause while they were shopping at the Spencer's Retail outlet. The concept has been designed and executed by the VM Team of Spencer's.

According to a spokesperson from Spencer's Retail, "The entire idea of Big Christmas Bash and its decoration is a part of our marketing strategy. The concept is that Spencer's should become a shopping destination by not only offering the best products and merchandise during the festive season but making it as eye catching and attractive as possible. The in-store decor at the epicusine section has been a major highlight for our stores as we get a huge number of customers in the live bakery section and we also do sampling of Plum cakes, Dundee cakes etc. Each year we get great response and increase in sales of these items. Our intention is to give the finest of our current season's assortment in these activities, which can leave a mark in the mind of viewer for design, quality and pricing of the merchandise in store.”

On High Spirits

In this festive season the Wine & Spirits store at Spencer's Hyper in Quest Mall, which is spread across an area of about 2500 sq ft, got a new look and feel to further cater to the rising wine  consuming'Culture' of Kolkata. This section at Quest boasts of about 381 brands of wines from 14 different countries and more than 80 variants of whiskey. This assortment comprises of some of the leading names like Moet & Chandon, Michele Chiarlo Barolo, Dom Perignon and Chivas Regal.

To highlight the flavour of the season, the decor of the Wine & Spirits store has been meticulously designed by the in-house team of Spencer's. Starting from the window display to the props used for visual merchandising, the neon signage's at the "The Beer Den” and the decor of the bar inside store captures the attention of  the specific TG. The assortment placement, space rationalisation, lighting and neatness of display is majorly contributing to the conversion of a walk-in into sales.
  
For connecting with the focussed buyers during the relaunch of the store, Spencer's hosted a premium Wine & Tasting session with sommelier Magandeep Singh which was an informative one, showcasing Creamy Mushroom Vol au Vonts, Duck salad with Sesame Dressing, Roasted Stuffed Turkey & Fresh Strawberries with balsamic reduction and castor sugar.

Spencer's also launched a Wine & Spirit Mobile App a year ago and the online ordering of one's choicest wines is available in Kolkata across 70 pincodes. Spencer's offers 17 Wine & Spirits stores nationally and has plans to enhance the same in other geographies.
