Dynamic displays have changed the game significantly when it comes to brand communication in the retail and out of home spaces. Aashiq, Deputy Director of NovaStar, delves into this in detail in this conversation as part of ‘Insights @ Digital X’ presented by DDX Asia.

Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) solutions are reshaping the industry landscape at an unprecedented pace, with traditional static billboards make way for vibrant, interactive digital displays.

Aashiq, Deputy Director of NovaStar, delves into the multiple ways in which the latest wave of digital display solutions have streamlined business operations within the outdoor and retail sectors. The crux of it is that these new solutions are resulting in a remarkable reduction of workforce, leading to significant cost-savings.

“Our primary product offerings encompass control systems, video processing equipment, and cloud-based services,” Aashiq says, opening up about the specifics of NovaStar’s offerings. “We boast of industry-leading calibration technology, making us a comprehensive and innovative force in the LED display industry. Today, two out of three LED display systems, irrespective of the brand, use the NovaStar control systems as their core,” he further informs with pride.

Further sharing his observations on the industry and overall trends, Aashiq says, “The last three years have been excellent for outdoor as an industry simply because of the many options available to clients. As a consumer and as a service provider, I can safely say that static displays are no longer attractive to audiences. Dynamic displays have changed the game significantly.

The flexibility they provide allows one to play around with content, schedule content, control multiple screens from a single location, and so much more. In a situation like this, what customers need most is an end-to-end provider, who can take care of everything from a technology perspective, which is exactly what NovaStar provides,” he continues.

Further throwing light on the cost benefits of dynamic displays, he says, “Dynamic displays also significantly cut down labour costs. If you have say 30 to 40 billboards dedicated to multiple brands within your conglomerate, you would need at least that many people to manage each of these billboards. However, advancements in technology have now enabled us to execute close to 160 displays with just two people to manage them, and we have managed to do that with certain projects today. Although innovative DOOH solutions seem like an expense at first, they are an investment that can help one not only save cost but also multiply revenue.”

In the context of dynamic digital displays, what Aashiq says about the upcoming DDX Asia event, a one-stop exhibition of digital display solutions for retail and out-of-home industries to be held at Nehru Centre, Worli, Mumbai on December 8-9, 2023, really sum up his perspectives. “DDX Asia serves as an exceptional networking platform facilitating meaningful connections between manufacturers and end clients. Having closely followed this event and perused the pages of Outdoor Asia magazine for numerous years, I have found it to be a valuable resource for gaining insights into the latest market developments. This platform not only keeps us abreast of emerging trends, but also aids service providers like us in understanding clients' needs, allowing us to tailor our solutions accordingly.”
