Berlin’s Futurium permanent exhibition opened in the 1st week of September and it marked a unique milestone in interactive and creative exhibition space. Designed by ART+COM Studios, which designs and develops new media installations and spaces, the space is a testimony to what technology can do to elevate artistic expression, while capturing the spirit of contemporary mind space and issues of relevance.

“We use new technology as an artistic medium of expression and as a medium for the interactive communication of complex information. In the process, we are improving the technologies constantly and exploring their potential for spatial communication and art,” says the statement from ART+COM and true to this, the exhibition design is an exploration of the various possibilities in an innovative merger of art and technology.

The exhibition theme ‘Thinking Spaces’ explores the future from different aspects - from self-sufficient cties and the future of work to ideas for more sustainable consumption. Visitors can experience visions of the future on over 3,000 m2 in three large “thinking spaces” ––humans, nature and technology. ART+COM Studios worked closely with Futurium and Schiel Projekt on the exhibition design.

The Futurium exhibition was an ambitious project given that the show had to showcase potential futures and be innovative in terms of design.

This unusual and comprehensive exhibition offers free entry to visitors, and inspires multiple return visits. Large-scale spatial designs concepts create three “thinking spaces,” each dramatically different in mode and atmosphere.
