Liebherr experiences maximum growth from Delhi NCR

By Nabamita Chatterjee | April 03, 2018

The zone has contributed to nearly 40% of the total sales in India

Liebherr, the German refrigerator brand, for both the domestic and commercial sectors, has recently reported that majority of the sales in the country come from the Delhi & NCR region. North India accounts for close to 40% of the sales for Liebherr India, with Delhi & NCR in the lead, followed by Punjab and Haryana and other surrounding catchment areas. Sharing his inputs on the Indian market, Radhakrishna Somayaji, Chief Sales Officer, Liebherr Appliances India Private Limited said, “Kitchens in Indian homes are getting a makeover. This is slowly turning out to be a premium segment and many brands are also entering the Indian market to cater to this growing segment. Spending on kitchens of these homes now average around ₹40-50 lakh in the country, and therefore, we believe there is a market for premium appliances to complement those kitchens!”

India has always been an important market for Liebherr and the company is keen on exploring new opportunities to realise its potential here. Liebherr validates that there are new sets of consumers in New Delhi & NCR as well as other cities like Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandar, Kanpur, Agra, Bhopal and Lucknow which are home to a rising number of affluent Indians. We have observed more than 80-90% growth in sales year-on-year in the North India Market since the last 4 years. Our key clientele mostly belongs to major cities in North India like New Delhi & NCR, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Ghaziabad, Agra, Kanpur, Varanasi, Aligarh, Jaipur, Jammu etc. Thanks to the rising disposable income, change in spending pattern of the youth and global lifestyle culture, the consumption pattern is surely moving towards more sophisticated and refined tastes. We expect demand to pick up in the coming season and are gearing up for the ensuing summer during which we plan to launch new models in refrigerators for the mass premium segment,” added Radhakrishna.

In 2019, it will add around 22 models and 11 additional models for wide range of refrigerator availability in the next 3 years.
