A spatial orchestra of Italian walnut wood, marble & more

Bottega Veneta’s newly reopened  store at Dubai’s Mall of Emirates, designed by Matthieu Blazyis an ode to Italian materials and Venetian ethos.

Bottega Veneta has announced that it has reopened its Mall of Emirates store with a new design by Matthieu Blazy. The redesigned space honours classic Italian materials, as well as the brand’s origin city of Venice. Both the store façade and interior are distinguished by concrete tiles, inspired by Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa, who is famed for his work in concrete. The tiles clad the store walls and flooring, as well as shelving units and planters, creating a calm, sophisticated aesthetic scheme.

Throughout the store, other shelving, display units, and mirrors are made of Italian walnut wood, a material Blazy appreciates for its sense of domesticity and warmth, as well as stunning Verde Saint Denis marble, sourced in the Aosta valley in northern Italy, informs the company. Soft textures are found in wool carpets and woven leather seating in shades of green, brown, and black, nodding to signature Bottega Veneta materials. Other fixtures and objects refer to iconic Bottega Veneta designs, such as the store’s main door handle, which recalls the Sardine bag, and ceramic plant pots, made by the same Milan studio that create many of Bottega Veneta’s enamelled ceramic details.

With an elevated new customization offering in store, a folding wooden room screen also distinguishes a new, private area for made-to-order services. Equipped with a bespoke table, leather swatches, and customization box, the area will allow customers to tailor iconic Bottega Veneta bags to their own taste and lifestyle, selecting colours, materials, and personalisation details, such as initials.

Towards the rear of the store, rotating doors in Verde Saint Denis marble demarcate an intimate VIC area. On opening, this VIC area will showcase 15 unique Knot bags from the Bottega Veneta archive, as well as a selection of the House’s jewellery collection.
