D-Mart converts two stores into fulfilment centres for its e-commerce business

The company closed two Mumbai stores for customers and have converted them into fulfilment centres in Mira Road and Kalyan for their e-commerce business, D-Mart Ready.


The Indian chain hypermarkets in India powered by Avenue Supermarkets Ltd; D-Mart has transformed two of its retail outlets as fulfilment centres for its e-commerce business, D-Mart Ready.

Commenting on the company’s expansion plans, Avenue Supermarkets, stated, “We have closed two of our Mumbai stores for customers and have converted them into fulfilment centres for our e-commerce business. One each in Mira Road and Kalyan. Both these locations have alternative D-Mart store within 4 km.”

The D-Mart Ready continues to expand its operations in Mumbai Metropolitan region, covering additional pin codes.

As per the company, Mira Road and Kalyan fulfilment centres addition is to deepen their reach and serve customers better in these regions. They have also expanded their E-commerce operations in selected pin codes at Pune City.

The company has increased its offline presence back in July-September and is gradually improving its business post lockdown.

“The highlight being that footfalls continue to be significantly lower than pre-covid levels but basket values is significantly higher than pre-covid levels. Both the data points are trending towards pre-covid levels. Footfalls are getting better and basket values are reducing month over month,” the company added.
