French sporting goods retailer Decathlon is in the news for beating market leaders in terms of sales.

Less than two months after sports gear major Puma reportedly announced itself as the sportswear market leader in India, French sporting goods retailer Decathlon seems to have overtaken it in terms of sales revenues for the financial year 2018.

According to reports published in media, the Decathlon has posted a revenue of Rs. 1278 crore last financial year with a profit of Rs 33.8 lakhs. The retail brand is reported to be ahead of market leaders such as Adidas and Nike.

Decathlon has also become India’s second-largest single-brand retailer after Xiaomi, according to ET report.

According to reports, Decathlon’s product pricing and variety contributed to the retail performance, besides its unique operating model. The store also serves as a one-stop destination for all sporting and outdoor adventure gears which has helped it carve a niche in the market.
