Located on the MG Road in Gurugram, Pall Mall, designed by Sync Design Studio, is a thoughtfully designed space that brings together elegance, comfort and tradition.
Spread across two beautifully planned floors in Mega City Mall, Pall Mall stands out with its rich teal blue exterior, inspired by the iconic street in London known for its gentlemen’s clubs and boutiques. The store aims to provide Indian men a shopping experience that’s not only warm but memorable.
From the moment someone steps inside the store, a grand chandelier glows above, lighting up a herringbone-patterned wooden floor. “We wanted the space to feel elegant and royal, like a space that respects the idea of an Indian gentleman,” says Sandeep Dang, Principal Architect of Sync Design Studio. “And at the same time, it needed to feel updated and modern.”
Every detail at the store serves a purpose. As Sandeep mentions, “We used materials like wood, metal, glass, and stone not just for their look, but for how they work together. Everything is custom-made, be it a granite staircase, vintage wooden louvre cabinets or cane-woven chairs.”
The ground floor has a wide collection of Western wear, including suits, shirts and fine fabrics, while the first floor, accessible via a granite staircase with curved glass railings, features ethnic wear like Sherwanis and kurtas meant for weddings and celebrations.
“Since suiting is something that attracts regular footfall, we kept it on the ground floor,” Sandeep explains. “Wedding shopping takes time and needs more focus, so we moved ethnic wear to the upper floor.”
The space feels endless as a clever illusion created by faux windows and mirror panels multiplies the room’s space. To amplify the grandeur, the mirrors are placed strategically on walls, ceilings, and wardrobes. The soft ambient light bounces across surfaces and brings out the texture of every fabric. Golden metal poles, like sentries and support racks, appear to float. Fluted glass panels subtly divide spaces without cutting off the flow and intelligently adding a hint of mystery.
Before making a decision, a visitor tries on options, sits with family and makes thoughtful choices. Cane-woven chairs and classical tables placed in the lounge give the store a personal touch. “It’s about comfort, too. Whether someone is getting something tailored or just taking a break, we wanted them to feel at home,” explains Sandeep.
Overall, the store has a calm and welcoming feel. Glass panels, wooden cabinets, mirrors, stone tables, and rattan chairs all come together to create a balanced look.
The iconic lionhead emblem makes a strong statement inside the store. Placed on a grand double-height wall, the emblem symbolises strength and tradition. “The lionhead has been part of the brand for years,” says Sandeep. “We wanted it to have a proper place, not just a logo at a cash counter. That’s why it’s near the entrance, where it can be seen and felt.”
When you walk into the store, you may be in a certain mood. But when you walk out, after trying, feeling and choosing, you walk out a little more confident, a little more sure. That’s what a well-designed space does. In Pall Mall, Sync Design Studio has built a sanctuary of style where every visit feels like a story waiting to unfold.
