The retailer on wheels rolled out 10 mobile shops in the state with plans to have a network of 500 QMS across the country.

Sahara Q, the FMCG and retail arm of Sahara India Pariwar, launched  Quality Mobile Shop (QMS), in West Bengal to augment its reach to customers in the state

QMS is the first of its kind retail model in FMCG sector in the world and is part of a strategic move to fulfill Sahara Q's commitment to cater to the daily needs of valued customers from tier II/III and rural areas which otherwise lack accessibility due to a weak supply chain and non-availability of quality products. The company has adopted complete automation of processes from stock management to billing to customers. QMS provides distinct advantage over any other model, due to its complete automation and mobility. Each specially designed QMS van travels on a chartered path to offer complete range of Sahara Q's products to customers.

In the beginning, the company has introduced 10 Quality Mobile Shops in West Bengal. Launch of QMS in the state is part of the second phase of rolling out of the model. In November 2013, the company had rolled out 181 QMS vans in five states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Bihar. By end of the current financial year, the company aims to expand the network to 500 QMS vans.

Speaking on the launch, Sahara Q's Executive Director, Romie Dutt said, "Sahara Q's long-term vision is to be one of the largest FMCG companies in the country. Today we manufacture a bouquet of 100% unadulterated products and supply them in 29 states through various distribution channels. Quality Mobile Shop is an initiative that gives a fillip to our efforts to take our fight against adulteration to people living in tier II/III cities and remote areas.”

Renowned actor Sri Prosenjit Chatterjee who was at the grand opening said, "Sahara Q shop has taken a great initiative to reach to the last mile consumers with its mobile retail shops. I think this move will prove to be beneficial to the end users who do not have access to retail outlets and unadulterated high quality products. We welcome Sahara Q to Kolkata and rest of the West Bengal.”

Sahara Q manufactures 895 products in categories of staples, processed food, homecare products, personal care products, water and beverages, general merchandise, home appliances and kitchenware. These products are sold through exclusive brand outlets called Sahara Q Shop, Quality Mobile Shops, General trade and Q Saathis.

Sahara Q also has plans to open 2500 exclusive brand outlets across West Bengal by March 2016 to capture the growing consumer market in the state. The company would also expand its dealer network by appointing more than 100 new distributors in next 3 months to reach 30,000 grocery stores in the state.
