The 1000 sq ft designer store, Kartikeya, designed by Delhi-based Design Radiance, combines colonial architecture and vintage look in the urban setting of Mumbai’s posh landscape, Juhu.
Inspired by colonial architecture and playing with the contrast of black and ivory, designer label Kartikeya’s store in Mumbai, creates an indulgent luxurious space in a small format store, spread across 1000 sq ft. The internal and external fascia have been kept identical with body forms on either side. The lobby, with a show window, has a curtain backdrop, giving it an opulent feel.
Washed wallpapers and antique furniture with stone fireplace adds a vintage old-world feel to it. As the designer wanted to create a luxurious and comfortable shopping experience for clients, the trial rooms are placed on both sides with concealed doors to give a seamless black panel design, which runs through the ceiling as well.
In the lounge space, the language shifts towards ivory; symmetry is followed by creating display wardrobes on all four corners. The lounge is designed with a fireplace on one side and a dresser on the other. There’s ample natural light coming through big glass windows facing the road with body forms on the outer side of the show window.
