Schneider Electric scales up its retail presence

""Schneider Electric, one of the global specialist in energy management and automation, plans to acquire a bigger market share in the Rs 5000 crore market for low voltage electrical products such as MCBs, RCCBs, Distribution Boards, Switches & Sockets across India. As part of its retail expansion drive in East India, where the low-voltage electrical retail market is pegged at Rs 500 crore the company recently unveiled its mobile Van Campaign ‘Switch on India’ in West Bengal and Odisha with an aim to reach out to end customers. At present how many POS touch points you have pan India?

We have 45,000+ POS across the country and 2000+ partners or dealers. We are present in 76 cities in India.

Do you have plans to open exclusive outlets of Schneider electrical products?

We are under discussion of rolling out exclusive experience boutiques or EBO’s of Schneider Electric which will give a look and feel of our entire range to our end customers. This demand is also coming from our partners.

You have recently launched ‘Switch on India’ campaign for enhancing the retail penetration, tell us something about it

Under this initiative, just like a retail shop Schneider Electric will showcase its range of green low-voltage electrical products such as MCBs, RCCBs, Distribution Boards, Switches & Sockets in Kolkata and engage with local electricians and retailers to generate awareness around safety and efficiency. The van will also display Schneider Electric Final Distribution (FD) and Wiring Devices (WD) products. We are present with modular switches in every segment from mass to premium range.

Tell us about your retail expansion strategy through this format.

As a part of our retail expansion drive in East India, the mobile Van Campaign ‘Switch on India’ will start from West Bengal and Odisha with an aim to reach out to end customers. After Kolkata it will reach Durgapur, Asansol and then will move on to further North East in Guwahati and Shillong. 
A total of 8 such vans will travel across different electrical markets in the country, covering close to 100 cities over the next one month. The van will travel across the states of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Kerala.

How many partners and retailers you are already connected with in Eastern region and what are the expansion plans?

We already have 20 partners who are in touch with more than 300 retailers across 12 cities in eastern region and this development has happened more in last one year and we are looking at stabilizing it. Further within this FY we will add up to may be 10 more partners who will touch base with 600+ retailers adding to our network.
