Baazar Kolkata on an expansion spree

Baazar Kolkata, one of the leading local apparel retail chains of Eastern India is on a major expansion drive across the zone. The chain has recently opened two new stores in this region, one in Baruipur, suburbs of Kolkata and the other one is in Hajaribagh in Jharkhand. With this, their total store count reaches to 40 outlets, spread across Eastern India located in states of West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Tripura. They offer a widest assortment of products for lifestyle, fashion, home and entertainment at reasonable price to the customers. The Baazar Kolkata stores are primarily large stores spread across an area between 8,000-10,000 sq.ft.

Umesh Sharma, Marketing Head of Baazar Kolkata shares with Retail4Growth,“We are majorly expanding in this zone. By the end of 2017 we are going to add 10 more stores in our retail chain list and will take the overall store count to 50. We are majorly concentrating in consolidating the retail footprints across this region and will look at entering the other zones after dominating this zone as east has immense potential when it comes to retail growth. All our stores are company owned and we will follow this same retail model further. Soon we are going to enter the North East market with two stores in Silchar of Assam and also going to expand in Jharkhand. We have been growing on an average of 15-20% y-o-y. From West Bengal so far we get the highest profit margin with a presence of 16 stores and we are present almost in all key retail market areas of Kolkata as well as in potential districts of the state. We have also identified new location in towns like Asansol and Basirhat of West Bengal for further expansion.”

The chain also recently inaugurated their Durga Puja collection in Hati Bagan outlet in North Kolkata, the 9000 sq. ft. showroom spread across entire ground floor and bestowing a variety of garments in ladies’ wear, men’s wear, kids wear segment and accessories.
