Mumbai Duty Free’s new identity highlights new retail focus

Mumbai Travel Retail Private Limited has announced its rebranding to OSPREE with the aim of integrating all its duty-free holdings, including Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Amritsar, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Mangalore, under one unified brand identity and has also announced its plans to expand its global footprint.

Private Limited (MTRPL) recently announced its rebranding to OSPREE. “The new brand identity ‘Ospree’ serves as MTRPL’s strategy to integrate all its duty-free holdings, including Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Amritsar, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Mangalore, under one unified brand identity. MTRPL operates out of seven international airports in the country and plans to expand its global footprint,” said the company’s statement.

The company says the new brand identity takes a contemporary approach to redefine the shopping experience at Duty Free. “The brand name OSPREE takes inspiration from the magnificent Osprey, a migratory bird known for its grace, precision, and boundless journeys across continents, reflecting the company’s ambitions,” said the company statement.  

Avishek Bambi Das, CEO of MTRPL, stated, “As we plan to expand our global footprint, it’s imperative to integrate all our duty-free stores under one unified brand identity that resonates with our values and aspirations. Ospree will be positioned as the ultimate destination for global travellers seeking premium, elegantly curated products and re-defining duty-free shopping as a luxurious and convenient experience showcasing a diverse array of premium products. 

The move marks MTRPL ‘s sustained focus on redefining its retail experience and also its ambitious expansion  plans. As Avishek Bambi Das had recently told Retail4Growth in an exclusive conversation, “These are very exciting times; we are doing some world class stuff that is going to stun travelers. We are not going to rest till we have truly disrupted this industry.”
