Sennheiser unveils first flagship store in Kolkata

The brand aims at opening one such exclusive store in every big metro city within a span of three years.

Sennheiser Electronics, one of the world's leading brands in the headphone category launched  their first exclusive store in the country in Kolkata. The outlet opened at Quest Mall, Kolkata's first luxury mall, is the only single-brand headphones retail outlet in India that will provide an experiential showcase of Sennheiser's entire range of headphones.The store was inaugurated in the presence of Gunjan Srivastava, MD Sennheiser India and  Eric Denise, Vice President Sales, APAC and Samidh Mukherjee, renowned Music Director, Song Writer & Vocalist from the Bengal music industry.


One of the key highlights on display would be the HD 800, one of the most expensive audiophile headphones as well as the newly launched Sennheiser Momentum lifestyle range. Talking at the launch, Gunjan Srivastava, Managing Director of Sennheiser Electronics India said, "Headphones are no more considered just an accessory but rather an integral part of the music listening experience with the increased consumption of music on smartphones. Today marks a significant moment for all of us at Sennheiser India. We have seen the headphone market in India growing manifold since the inception of Sennheiser India in 2007. We are happy to open the inaugural exclusive store in the region.”

Eric Denise, VP - Sales (APAC), Sennheiser, said, "For over six decades, Sennheiser has been working to provide the best audio experience to consumers around the world. India has been one of the fastest growing markets in world. We recognize the potential in India and we are delighted to have finally been able to create this immersive sound experience for Sennheiser fans here. The flagship store is also part of Sennheiser's broader strategy to demonstrate its brand leadership in India and to expand its experiential product showcases to consumers across the region.”
 
Gunjan Srivastava further added, "The Sennheiser culture has always been rooted in innovation and exploring what may be possible in the future. Our latest exclusive store is another step taken to continue our efforts to educate customers on our culture and belief in innovation and producing high quality sound. Though we were present in more than 2000 MBO's in India but we felt that Sennheiser should come up with exclusive brand outlet in this organised 150 crore(approx) headphone market which is booming at a real fast pace of 20-25% every year. We have done extensive research on the Indian market and have tried to understand what kind of sound quality and design our consumers are looking at. We are also looking at how to make our brands more accessible to the mass not only in terms of reach but keeping a very competitive price range and thus our products starts from Rs.1000 and goes upto Rs. 95,000.”
 
While talking about setting the first flagship store in Kolkata, Gunjan said, "We wanted to open our first store in one of the big metro cities and Kolkata has given us tremendous response in the last 3-4 years and almost 50% growth came from here for our products in the country. Kolkata being the trendsetter for the entire East zone we thought Sennheiser could cater to the whole region including North East market. We were also looking for a very premium property to open our outlet and Quest Mall certainly gave us that opportunity. We will be doing many promotional activities through media formats and are very much hopeful that soon it will become a landmark store for not only the people of Kolkata but entire Bengal and East zone at a large.”
