Woodland to invest Rs 100 crore for new Super Stores

Adventure sports shoe manufacturer and outdoor apparel brand Woodland aims to expand its retail footprint and product line with an investment of Rs.100 crore for its Super-Store over the coming two years. The brand aims to open eight such exclusive outlets across India in cities like Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Mumbai Pune, Bangalore, Chandigarh.  Amol Dhillon Vice President, Strategy and Planning Woodland says, "All the stores will have a premium range of merchandise required for adventure sports equipment such as outdoor cameras, tents, sailing boats, yachts, fishing boards, fishing rods, skiing boards, climbing shoes and many more.”

Each large format stores will be spread over an area of 50,000 sq.ft. and will be located slightly outside the city having a theme of adventure sports which would be in sync with the merchandise. Amol further shares in this regard, "For creating a total new experience for the shoppers before they actually buy the product, there will be small adventure parks and rock climbing arrangements inside the stores. Also, various competitions and events will be organized by Woodland. Our aim is to bring the whole outdoor adventure sports requirement under one roof. Thus we are building tie-ups with manufacturers of premium adventure sport equipment makers also and many of the products sold at Super Stores will be co-branded.
The first store is coming up in Delhi by January 2014 which is being set up on 13 acres of land.

Woodland which had Rs.860 crore turnover in the last FY is aiming to close the coming fiscal by Rs.1190 crore. Thus with the existing 400 own stores and being present in more than 4000 MBO's, the brand is now ready to experiment further in their specialised arena of adventure sport products in the emerging retail scenario of India.
