By Satarupa Chakraborty | January 10, 2018

Avery Dennison acquires Mactac and Hanita Coatings to strengthen its portfolio in graphics business, which is foreseen as the company’s growth engine for the next 10-20 years.

Material manufacturer company Avery Dennison has revealed its plan to shift its focus from label business to graphics business focusing on three portfolios - Graphics, Speciality and Durables. There three businesses are expected to be the company’s growth engines in next decade or two. Avery has also acquired window films division of Hanita Coatings and film manufacturer company Mactac to strengthen its graphics portfolio.

Talking to Retail4growth on the merger, Shamrendra Kumar, Business Head, Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions, South Asia, and East and West Africa, explained, “We are adopting a dual brand strategy without changing or diluting the brand equity that Mactac or Hanita already have in the market. Mactac has widest range of Polymeric and speciality products. The latter variety is tailor-made for retail applications. Glass facades are used hugely in most of the retail spaces today. Mactac has a projection film that can convert a glass façade into an interactive screen, which can directly project the brand’s advertizing/communication etc. Textured film is another variation from Mactac which is majorly used in retail environments to offer vibrant and lucrative surfaces. Hanita has been known for their product offerings in window films. Some of our organic product ranges will be criss-crossing with the products by Hanita but largely, it will be a new arena of business for us.”
