Delicate aqua spread & floral motifs mark this Italian brand’s first India store

Italian footwear brand Aquazzura’s first India store locatedat the Chanakya Mall in New Delhi, launched in partnership with DS Luxury Retail Limited, was designed in collaboration with Dutch artist Marie-Anne Oudejans.
Mediterranean ethos underlined by delicate floral and Italian garden motifs comes alive at Italian footwear brand Aquazzura’sfirst India store in India. Located inside Chanakya Mall in New Delhi, in partnership with DS Luxury Retail Limited, a Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group) entity, the store is a celebration of aqua hue.
“Doused in the house’s signature delicate aqua hue, the overall inspiration evokes the summery glory of an Italian garden blooming with colorful flowers and fruit. The principal decorative element of the boutique, which is illuminated by three arched-shaped windows, is the geometric elegance of the trellis, interpreted in various ways,” shares the company.
The space was designed in collaboration with Marie-Anne Oudejans, the versatile Dutch artist who also lent her creative touches to the London, Capri, and St. Tropez venues.
Trellis motifs as wall art with colorful branches replete with flowers, oranges, and lemons, sinuously weaving through the typical gridwork convey a distinct ambience. Further, pineapples, the emblem of Aquazzura’s world, enhances the ambience.
“The garden motif is also recalled in the aqua displays, adorned with green marble touches and goldenbordered shelves that add a warm glow to the otherwise light and cool palette. They are festooned by hand-painted branches, similar to the ones on the ceiling, while shell-shaped ornaments carved from stone sit at their base,” further shares the brand team.
Black and white stripes for their part create a striking optical effect on the marble floors and a circular seating element that serves as the focal point. It is set apart by a raised central stone urn with topiary plants pruned into different-sized spheres.
The brand has lined up 10 new store openings this year, with focus on Asia and the Middle East with new units in Bahrain, Kuwait, Riyadh, and soon Jeddah, the company informs.
“India is one of my favourite happy places, a destination I visit every year to find inspiration, explore new places, enjoy wonderful food, and have fun. It is a dream come true to open our first boutique in India at The Chanakya in Delhi. Designed by my friend Marie-Anne Oudejans, the boutique reflects our shared vision of an indoor shoe garden.
