GVK Lounge at Mumbai Airport bags award at WTA 2015

Designed by Mumbai architect Alfaz Miller and fashion designer Sandeep Khosla, GVK Lounge at Mumbai Airport's Terminal II won the award of Best Airport Lounge in Asia at World Travel Awards (WTA) 2015. The win has further nominated the lounge to compete with world's best airport lounges that will determine the world's best one.

The GVK lounge at Mumbai Airport's Terminal II won the Best Airport Lounge in Asia award at the World Travel Awards 2015 recently. The lounge has been further nominated for the 'World's Best Lounge' in World Travel Awards where it will compete among best airport lounges in different continents. The event will be held in Morocco later this year.

The lounge, designed and executed by Mumbai architect Alfaz Miller and fashion designer Sandeep Khosla, is based on a concept from Softroom Architects. Spread across an area of 30,000 sq. ft. across two levels, the lounge was inaugurated in November last year. It has a seating capacity of 440 and spread over lounge seating area, bar seating and dining area with live kitchen having international menu options. In response to the awards, Alfaz Miller said, "The mandate from Sanjay Reddy was to make it the best lounge in the world! The Award validates that the GVK lounge is practically world class. It is the result of immense skill and effort of the ABM Architects team along with styling inputs from Sandeep Khosla."

The lounge, built and operated by Travel Food Services (TFS) and Performa, made it to the top in the 22nd edition of World Travel Awards which was held in Hong Kong. The winners were selected after more than 500,000 votes were cast by travel professionals and high-end tourism consumers this year. Several heavyweight international nominees like Cathay Pacific's 'The Wing' First Class Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, the Japan Airlines First Class Lounge, the Korean Air KAL Lounge at Incheon International Airport, the Malaysian Airlines Golden Lounge, the Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge and the Thai Airways Royal First Lounge at Suvarnabhumi Airport were in the fray.
