Vivek Gambhir quits as GCPL managing director, Nisaba Godrej to take over

Vivek Gambhir, Managing Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has resigned citing personal reasons.

Nisaba Godrej, currently the executive chairperson will take on the additional role. The leadership change will be from July 1

In a statement, 51-year old Gambhir, who was living away from his family over the past decade, seeing them only during weekends, said he was suffering with lifestyle related health problems, and his decision to quit was to spend more time with family.

Commenting on the new role, Nisaba Godrej said “Humanity is going through difficult times right now and GCPL is committed to doing whatever is necessary to serve its stakeholders and community. Under Gambhir, who was at the helm of the company for nearly over eight years , GCPL grew its revenues nearly four-times to over Rs10,000 crore. Gambhir, who was earlier a partner at Bain & Company, joined Godrej Industries in 2009 as chief strategy officer responsible for guiding overall group strategy, conducting portfolio analysis and driving special projects.
