Young Women Disruptors of Retail Design 2026: Ritisha
By Retail4Growth Bureau | March 20, 2026
At Atelier Svana, Ritisha brings more than design expertise - her empathy, organizational skills, and ability to inspire ownership within her team make her a truly dependable leader and collaborator.

With a background in architecture, Ritisha’s understanding of space, materials, and design was always a part of her foundation. But it was during her time at Atelier Svana when she developed a passion for retail design. Working on store design & experience projects, she saw firsthand how a brand’s identity, customer experience, and spatial design come together– turning a simple space into something people can feel and connect with.
What sets her apart is the way she stays deeply involved in every stage of a project. From early concepts and material choices to coordinating with vendors and overseeing execution on site, Ritisha believes in ensuring that the original design vision is carried through without compromise.
Her team shares that Ritisha approaches each project with a calm, hands-on mindset, whether it’s guiding junior designers, working closely with teams, or solving on-site challenges. This balance of design sensitivity and practical execution is what makes her work stand out.

What is the best part of being a retail designer?
The best part of retail design is shaping how people experience a brand—creating spaces that attract, guide, and leave a lasting impression. It’s also exciting because the field is always evolving, with new trends and ideas to explore.
What’s the biggest advantage of being a woman in retail design?
Being a woman in retail design brings strong empathy and attention to detail, helping create more user-focused and engaging spaces. It also adds a unique perspective, making designs more inclusive and relatable.
What is the top challenge as a woman in retail design?
One challenge is being taken seriously in a male-dominated site environment, especially early on. However, with strong knowledge and clear communication, you naturally build credibility over time.
Where do you derive your inspiration from?
I derive inspiration from everyday retail environments, brand storytelling, and material exploration. Working at Atelier Svana, along with the mentorship of Bhavuk Jain, has encouraged me to push creative boundaries and give my best in every project. His guidance motivates me to continuously learn and improve.
Which is your favourite retail project and why?
Saisha is my favourite retail project as it beautifully combines luxury, strong brand identity, and an immersive experience. The wave-like cane ceiling creates a striking focal point, while cast-in-situ flooring and lime wash finishes add warmth and texture. The brass and wood hanging system enhances the space with an elegant and functional display.
Advice to fellow & upcoming women in the field of retail design?
Retail design is where creativity meets strategy. My advice to upcoming women designers is to stay curious, understand the business behind the space, and never hesitate to bring your unique perspective to the table.

Favourite travel destination and why
Rishikesh is my favourite destination for its perfect mix of spirituality, adventure, and natural beauty. From peaceful sunrise views to river rafting and the soulful Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat, it offers a truly unforgettable experience.
Favourite place to relax
A quiet terrace, open field, or lakeside—any calm spot away from city lights where you can relax under the stars.
