Presented with the challenge of creating a VM installation that would become the centerpiece of the entire venue, the VM team at Design One came up with the idea of Denim Ganesha for the Gartex TexProcess India Denim Show Exhibition 2025 held in Mumbai recently.

“We turned denim into divinity. And the audience couldn’t stop staring,” shares the VM team at Design One, who installed the innovative denim sculpture of Lord Ganesha at the recent Gartex TexProcess India Denim Show Exhibition 2025 held in Mumbai.
The goal before the team was to craft a visual merchandising installation so unique that it became the centerpiece of the entire venue. They thus came up with the idea of Denim Ganesha.
The 8.5ft high Ganesha was made entirely from 15 to 20 meters of repurposed denim. Further sharing the challenges involved in the execution, Ankita Gulati and Dhruv Kapoor, Co-Founders of Design One, explain how the team had to figure out a special kind of adhesive to bond all the raw materials together “We had to figure out the perfect anatomy of a being who is a combination of elephant and human. But we managed to succeed and the result is evident, pointing to the hard work put in by our artists.”
“The sculpture was a tribute to creativity, sustainability and Indian culture. It wasn’t just an Installation. It was an experience,” they add.
With over 5,000 attendees walking past the installation and hundreds stopping to click pictures of the installation, the installation managed to garner a lot of traction. “The word of mouth buzz around the sculpture reached social media within hours,” the team shares. Summing up the whole thought process behind the VM installation, Ankita Gulati and Dhruv Kapoor, share,“Visual merchandising isn’t just about display. It’s about storytelling that stops people in their tracks.”
